Purim is a time of joy, costumes, and hamantaschen, but at its heart lies an incredible story of courage and empowerment. Queen Esther, the heroine of the Purim story, wasn’t just a queen—she was a leader who took a stand when it mattered most. Her bravery and wisdom continue to inspire women and girls today.
From Fear to Fearless
At first, Esther wasn’t sure she could make a difference. She was young, living in a palace far from her people, and she had a secret—she was Jewish. When her cousin Mordechai urged her to speak up to King Ahasuerus to save the Jewish people from destruction, she hesitated. Approaching the king uninvited could mean death. But with encouragement, she found her inner strength and chose to act.
Using Her Voice for Change
Esther didn’t rush into action blindly—she used strategy, patience, and wisdom. She fasted and prayed for three days, gathering strength and support before approaching the king. When the time was right, she spoke with confidence and intelligence, revealing her Jewish identity and exposing Haman’s evil plan. Her courage saved an entire nation.
A Lesson for Today
Queen Esther’s story is more than ancient history—it’s a reminder that our voices matter. Whether it’s standing up for what’s right, making a difference in our communities, or teaching our children to be proud of their heritage, Esther’s strength lives on in all of us.
As we celebrate Purim, let’s remember the deeper message: bravery isn’t about being fearless—it’s about taking action despite our fears. Esther reminds us that one person, no matter how small they may feel, can make a world of difference.
Wishing you a Purim filled with joy, strength, and empowerment!
